Online Safety
The online world is posing an ever-increasing risk to children, and it is important that schools, parents and carers work together to take an active role in teaching children about online dangers. Learning how to act safely when using the internet is an incredibly important part of safeguarding our children.
At North Crescent, we take our responsibility to educate our pupils on online safety very seriously. We teach them the appropriate behaviours and critical thinking skills needed to enable them to remain both safe and legal when using the internet and related technologies, in and beyond the context of the classroom.
In addition to our computing curriculum, our pupils follow the National Online Safety scheme of work. It focusses on identifying the risks of being online and learning how to keep themselves safe. The teachers reinforce these online safety messages when using electronic devices across the wider curriculum.
In lessons where the internet is accessed, pupils are guided to sites checked as suitable for their use or specifically designed for children and young people (such as Kiddle). Our filtering and monitoring systems ensure that children are not able to access inappropriate material or websites should they try to do so.
Every class has internet safety rules displayed along with their safe user agreement.
