Mathematics

Purpose Statement

Mathematics fuels technological breakthroughs and transcends cultural boundaries, enabling the design of efficient infrastructure, the development of life-saving medical treatments, and the exploration of distant galaxies.

As a Trust, we embrace the transformative power of mathematics to shape a brighter tomorrow for generations to come. Our vision for mathematics teaching and learning is to foster a dynamic and inclusive environment where every student can flourish mathematically. Grounded in the principles of curiosity, exploration, and collaboration, our purpose is to instil a lifelong love for mathematics and equip students with the essential skills and mindset for success in an ever-changing world. We strive to cultivate mathematical thinkers and effective communicators. Through engaging, hands-on activities and personalised learning experiences, we aim to empower students to see mathematics as a tool for understanding the world around them and for making meaningful contributions to society.

Implementation

We teach the full National Curriculum.

Our lessons start with 'Fluent in 5' - a 5-minute activity to recall and embed prior learning. The teachers skilfully put the questions together based on outcomes from prior learning.

We use White Rose for our main teaching, supplemented by resources from a wide range of authors. The teaching and learning are adapted so that every chid is challenged in every lesson.

We use Times Tables Rock Stars (an award-winning maths learning platform) to practise times tables like a rock star! Times tables are the essential building blocks that underpin every maths curriculum. By using TTRS question-based games (which automatically adapt to each child’s unique learning needs), children have an enormous amount of fun whilst learning to recall their times tables in record speed.
